She was aware that I might be her only opportunity.

Goran Marinkovic often carries food with him while he strolls about Kraljevo, Serbia.

He provides food for more than 100 stray dogs and cats each day that have no one to take care of them, but in March of last year, he came upon a small puppy that he couldn’t bear to part with.

Marinkovic said to The Dodo, “I heard crying coming from the rocks as we passed a narrow pathway.” She was thirsty, hungry, and chilly. I gave her salami as soon as I had anything to eat.

The small dog was using an old boot as a makeshift shelter from the weather when she lived next to a pile of trash. The puppy was too young to be abandoned by its mother, but Marinkovic was unable to locate any other canines in the area.

The puppy instantly laid down and showed him her belly as soon as he got close to her.

“She was worn out,” Marinkovic remarked. “She laid down and gave herself over to fate, knowing that I might be her only chance.”

The small puppy was picked up by Marinkovic and taken to the veterinarian. After spending so much time alone and sleeping outside in the open, he wasn’t sure if she would make it. However, the puppy—named Coco by him—would not give up.

When Coco regained her strength, her tender nature began to emerge: “She has a human love,” Marinkovic stated. “She never fails to smile.”

Following the publication of Coco’s pictures on Facebook, Marinkovic’s mailbox was inundated with offers to foster the puppy. However, Marinkovic was determined to give her the greatest possible home.

He contacted a buddy and another rescuer who knew people who could help with foreign animal adoptions. And Coco left for her new home in Germany after receiving all of her vaccinations.

After a year, Coco no longer resembles the sick dog that Marinkovic discovered concealed behind a shoe. She has developed into a content, cuddly dog that loves to go on family outings and excursions.

“[Coco] is on vacation right now and has a gorgeous home.They’re currently at sea, and I get images all the time,” Marinkovic remarked. “Every dog I rescue from the streets and place in a loving home is a win for me.”

Marinkovic hopes that Coco’s luck would find its way to every wanderer in Serbia. However, these canines are one step closer to having the lives they deserve thanks to assistance from individuals like Marinkovic.

Forest is his name.

Nine puppies were recently born to a Scottish golden retriever, and one of them has a bright green color.

It is thought that the green tinge, which has very rarely occurred previously, is the result of biliverdin, or green bile, from the mother dog’s placenta interacting in a certain way with the amniotic fluid that surrounds and shields the puppies.

The dog’s owner told The Sun, “We noticed that one of the puppies had green fur as soon as the puppies started to arrive. It was all hands on deck.” It seemed unbelievable to us.”

Because of his color, the little puppy—who is now going by the name Forest—has already gained popularity on the internet. Being green isn’t always simple, though. Another unusual green puppy, born with less strength than the rest of the litter, died in 2014. Even while there isn’t any concrete evidence linking the puppy’s early demise to being born green, it lessens the humor of stories like this one.

Fortunately, Forest seems to be doing well, as do his golden siblings. And the transient hue of his skin is beginning to disappear.

If the culprits hadn’t been so incredibly cute, it may have been viewed as a nasty awakening.

Tim Newton is used to watching wildlife cross his yard because he lives in Alaska on land that borders a sizable natural area. However, on this specific morning, a group of cuddly wild cats chose to use his doorstep as a playground rather than merely passing by. Newton was still asleep when this started, but a commotion quickly woke him up.

“It was almost daybreak. Something scrambling on the deck, that’s what I heard,” Newton said to The Dodo. “When I awoke from my sleep, I was like, ‘What the heck is that?'” I then dressed in my bathrobe and carefully drew back the curtain. And there it was, a lynx kitten, two feet away. He was observing while seated.

It turned out that three or four lynx kittens were having a sort of party on top of Newton’s deck.

Thank goodness he reached for his camera.

“They were running back and forth, pouncing on each other,” Newton said. “I started snapping away. I thought, ‘Wow! What incredible luck. This just beats all. This is just wonderful!'”

Since lynx are so elusive, Newton has only seen them a few times in the wild. So it was extremely exciting for him to have the chance to take close-up photos of them from the comfort of his own house.

“They were so cute. It was cute-tastic,” Newton said. “It was amazing.”

However, it improves much further.

The small lynx entered Newton’s yard from his deck after a few minutes. Even though the playtime had only just started, he assumed it must be over. Newton was looking out of his screen door when he heard the mother of the kitten mewing in the grass. Then all seven of her children filed back onto his deck, her following suit, one by one.

“I’ve never seen so many lynx,” Newton said. “To see all these lynx on my deck, I was gobsmacked.”

It seems that the lynx was hidden behind the screen when he took their picture. They all stayed together for a while at one point so that Newton could obtain the ideal family photo.

Newton developed a great deal of respect for the kittens’ mother after noticing how boisterous they were.

“She has her hands full,” he said. “I’ve concluded that lynx must spend 1 percent of their waking lives chasing rabbits, and 99 percent chasing their kids. What a handful!”

With the exception of one, who approached the screen to investigate, Newton was able to get some amazing shots of the lynx, who appeared to be completely unaware of his presence. It didn’t go smoothly.

“I don’t know why I did this — maybe to say to him, ‘Oh, what a cute little kitty!’ — but I pulled the camera away from my face a little, and my eyes showed,” said Newton. “The terrified expression on the kitten’s face! With his eyes wide open, he simply took off from me! However, the rest were blind to it.”

The encounter with the lynx ended just as happily as it had begun. The mother lynx gathered up her kittens carelessly, deciding that playtime was ended, and they marched back into the forest together. According to Newton, the entire experience felt like a miracle.

“We’re always thrilled to encounter wildlife,” he said. “It makes me feel thankful — thankful for where I live. I’m thankful to have seen these lynx up close.”

Grandma Somboon worked for 80 years in the logging and tourism industries after being taken from the wild when she was a baby. She should have been relishing her life, but instead she was on her feet all day, taking visitors for rides and putting in long hours at work. The Save Elephant Foundation was forced to assist Somboon after learning of her situation.

“Grandma deserves to be well-cared for and given time to relax,” the rescue posted on Facebook. “We’re on a rescue mission to take Somboon to her last, real home while protecting her.”

Somboon was transported to the Elephant Nature Park sanctuary in late January after she was eventually freed from the area where she had been compelled to work her entire life. Somboon had thin skin, no teeth, and scaly, dry skin when she got to her new house. She appeared to know that she was at last safe despite everything.

The rescue stated that many newly arrived elephants take weeks to bed down because they are still distrustful and paranoid. But Grandma Somboon broke with convention. She quickly sought the sand mound that had been set aside for her, exhausted from her voyage and a lifetime of hardship, and slept quietly in the middle of the busy activity around her.

Somboon had been standing her entire life, so she was quite happy to be able to sit down and have a rest when she finally got to a place where she knew she was appreciated.

Somboon was unable to rise up when she eventually awoke from a deep slumber. Fortunately, her rescuers arrived quickly to assist her in getting to her feet and have been keeping a careful eye on her ever since to make sure she’s okay.

Grandma Somboon is doing remarkably well in her new sanctuary house. After everything she’s been through, she still has a long way to go before she fully recovers, but she is making progress. She is eating well, walking at her own pace, and taking lots of mud baths. Her rescuers are ecstatic that they were able to fulfill their dream and that she is now leading the life she was always destined to lead.

In 2021, Ibrahim saw two stray dogs cuddling up in the early morning sun as he was making his way to school in Grozny, Chechnya. He might have easily ignored the dogs and carried on with his journey.

Instead, he paused to give them a tender embrace, giving it freely since he thought no one was seeing.

But it appears that a neighboring building’s occupant saw Ibrahim through their window and recorded the young man’s impromptu gesture of affection and generosity:

Ibrahim’s acts in the above video quickly went viral, receiving appreciation from both friends and strangers.

“I watched the film. That’s Ibrahim,” Katerina, an acquaintance of Ibrahim’s family, said to The Dodo, pointing out that the moment exemplifies his altruism. “He helps my daughter carry her backpack when they go to school. He’s a really good boy.

He would undoubtedly agree with the dogs he embraced that day and all the others he has hugged behind his back.

“To be honest, I never thought I would own a snake, but he’s been the best pet for me.”

When his sister started asking questions about his pet corn snake, Spaghetti, Sean—who asked that his last name not be disclosed—had no idea what she was getting herself into.

Sean claimed to The Dodo, “She was asking how big or round is he, and I said, ‘About an inch or so.” When she asked me how long he was, I said, “Well, the last time I measured him, he was about 39 inches.”

Sean took in Spaghetti when his previous owner went to England almost four years ago.

“My former roommate used to own spaghetti,” Sean remarked. “He got [Spaghetti] from an old work colleague, and he tried to give him away on Facebook when my roommate had to move to England for his master’s degree, but no one would take him.” I promised to take care of the snake because I had lived with him for two years and I knew how to love and care for him.

Sean has been completely enmeshed in spaghetti ever since.

Sean remarked, “To be honest, I never thought I would own a snake, but he’s been the best pet for me.” He will wrap around my arm when I pick him up, then try to travel to my neck and finally the top of my head. He is a giant embrace in real life.

This year’s Christmas Day, Spaghetti received a unique sweater from Sean’s sister, which she had fashioned by crocheting yarn over a PVC pipe.

Sean remarked, “I think the sweater’s really cute.”

Spaghetti seemed to agree as well. Spaghetti gladly wriggled his way inside the sweater when Sean first showed it to him, according to Sean.

“He kind of parks it in there and waits right before he sticks his head out through the end,” Sean remarked. “Then, after a minute or two, he’ll stick his head out and take a moment to look around.”

Spaghetti’s Christmas sweater isn’t really a sweater, technically. Sean described it as “kind of like a sweater tube that he crawls through.” It’s funny, though, that he seems to enjoy remaining there.

Sean continued, “After he enters and sticks his head out the other side, he sits in there for about five to ten minutes.”

To show his sister, Sean snapped a few pictures of Spaghetti wearing his Christmas jumper. However, Sean’s photo went popular after he shared it on Reddit. Sean remarked, “That thing just blew up really quick, so it was a crazy Christmas.”

Sean hopes that Spaghetti’s sister will make another one. He remarked, “She might surprise me with another one.” “She might try a different pattern or something once she gets more proficient at crocheting.”

Whatever transpires, Sean believes Spaghetti will spend a lot of joyful hours cuddling within his sweater, and this Christmas present was a big hit.
